STUDENT DATA PRIVACY

Giant City Consolidated School District #130 takes student privacy seriously. Student Online Personal Protection Act is intended to provide transparency to stakeholders about the resources the district uses. We will continue to work diligently to be compliant with the Student Online Personal Protect Act which takes effect July 1, 2021.

Giant City Consolidated School District #130 joined the Illinois Student Privacy Alliance to provide the transparency needed for House Bill 3606 (HB3606).

STUDENT PRIVACY

On July 2021, Illinois schools will have to provide transparency on how House Bill 3606 (HB3606) which Governor J.B. Pritzker of Illinois signed back in August 23, 2019. House Bill 3606 (HB3606), is an update to Illinois’s Student Online Personal Protection Act (SOPPA), which requires more transparency on how student information is used and gives parents greater control over how schools, education companies, and the Illinois State Board of Education are collecting and using personally identifiable information (PII) from K-12 public school students.
